Updates to top 20

By Doug Evinou

The acquisition of Brad Boyes has resulted in the need for some bookkeeping with regards to the top 20 prospect list that was compiled in January. Boyes’ name will naturally be moved off of the list, and the players below him will move up one spot accordingly. Jamie Hodson, the new back-up goaltender in St. John’s, and former 3rd round pick, will be inserted at the #20 spot. Sebastien Centomo, who has had a tough season after enjoying breakthrough success last year will be moved down to the number #11 spot in light of his recent demotion to the ECHL. It should be remembered that Centomo is still just 21, and has plenty of time to rebound. As a result, WJC standout Ian White and OHL defenseman of the month for February, Brendan Bell, both move up two spots and into the top 10 of our Maple Leafs’ prospects list. Hockey’s Future will reevaluate the complete list after the Memorial Cup tournament in May.

Alexei Ponikarovsky has been recalled to Toronto due to the suspensions handed to Tie Domi and Darcy Tucker. It was reported in the St. John’s daily that Ponikarovsky may just be with the Maple Leafs for tonight’s game, and would be replaced by Nolan for Saturday’s home game against the Vancouver Canucks.
