The Des Moines Buccaneers have reached the 3/4 mark of the season and are not looking up anymore to get into the play-offs, they are currently in the top 8 and looking to climb up the standings. They’ve climbed into the 8th spot due to better play and a Chicago Steel slump.

A major contributor to the Buccaneers recent success is the play of Slovakian forward, Tomas Jasko. Tomas had a hat trick January 31st vs. the Steel and has garnered league recognition with “Offensive Player of the Week” on February 3, 2003 for his efforts. Tomas current has 22 G, 32 A for 54 points in 49 games.

Since the start of the new year, Tomas has been lighting up the scoreboard. In the 20 games in 2003, Tomas has 15 G, 19 A for 34 points. Since his recent explosion, Tomas has taken over as the team’s leading scorer. Marty Guerin has been the team’s leading scorer for the majority of the season.

With more players contributing to the Buccaneers offense, look for them to keep climbing up the standings in March.
