New features added to Hockey’s Future

As you can see, the redesign of Hockey's Future has been a work in progress, with certain features being added each week.  This week's major additions/changes include the new slideshow box that you see above the articles at the HF home page, plus a change to the HF logo that had been used for the past several years.

The slideshow box features the most recent content of note that has been posted to the site.  The slideshow features the image that is connected with the content, with those images being click-able so you can link directly to the content.

The logo change isn't simply a change to the font used in the lettering, although that is a part of this design change.  The logo also incorporates some elements of the game, including the ice-like look of the graphic towards the top of the page, as well as the portion of a faceoff circle that you see in the upper left corner.  We feel that this new logo design provides a bit better feeling of the game than did the previous logo, although the old one certainly served us well for years.

In addition to the new features mentioned above, we've also added back the ability to post comments to the content posted at the site.  We haven't had this feature for nearly a decade, so we hope you'll again enjoy the opportunity to interact in this way.  You'll need a Disqus account in order to post your comments, which can be tied into one of your social networking accounts such as Facebook or Twitter for an easy login process.

We've also added back the article archives feature that was included in the previous version of the site, with each month's articles broken down so it is a bit simpler to find articles that you might be looking for.  You simply click on the Archive link in the top toolbar and you'll be taken to the archives page, where you can then select the year and month that you would like to explore.  It appears that there is still some work to do to the articles appearing at the team, league, and country pages, but you can at least access the archives in a more organized manner via the Archives link.

And there is more to do yet, including adding back the listings of the Top 20 and Other Notables prospect listings for each of the NHL teams.  We will be working on this next week, after the NHL Draft work has been completed.

We thank you for your patience during this updating process, which as I said is still ongoing.  We'd like to hear what you think of the the new features we've added today, and/or some comments on other items that you might like to see added to HF.
