Kyle Gajewski Named the CHL Player of the Week

Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski is the CHL Player of the Week.

Gajewski posted a goals against average of 0.33 and a save percentage of .987 last week while picking up two shutouts in three important games last week. With the Greyhounds battling for a playoff spot, Gajewski gave up one goal in a 4-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit on March 1 and then posted back-to-back shutouts against the Sudbury Wolves on March 3 and Plymouth Whalers on March 5. He made 21 saves against Sudbury and 32 saves against Plymouth for his third shutout of the season. Gajewski was named first star in both shutout performances. Gajewski improved his season record to 27-21-3-4 and helped the Greyhounds move to within four points of clinching a playoff berth.

Adam Cracknell of the Kootenay Ice was the WHL Player of the Week after scoring three goals and seven points in two games last week. Cracknell was plus seven on the week and also picked up a game winning goal while helping the Ice finish the week with a 2-0 record. Cracknell currently sits tied for fifth in the WHL scoring race with 80 points this season. Alexander Radulov of the Quebec Remparts was the QMJHL’s Offensive Player of the Week after scoring seven goals, including one game-winner and 13 points in four games last week. Radulove is currently on a 46 game point streak. This streak is the second longest in QMJHL history, trailing only Mario Lemieux’s record of 61 games. Radulov is leading all QMJHL scorers with 135 points this season. Alexandre Vincent of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens was named the QMJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week after going 2-0 while posting a .948 percentage and a 1.55 goals against average. Vincent has helped the Sagueneens establish a new franchise points record with 94, breaking their old record of 92.
