Boston College leads the way with three First Team choices

Hockey East Press Release

When the games begin Friday at the TD Banknorth Garden, it will be the equivalent of an All-Star competition, as 11 of this year’s 12 Hockey East All-Stars, and four of the six All-Rookie selections, will take the ice.

Boston College leads the way with three First-Team All-Stars in Player of the Year Chris Collins, tandem sniper Brian Boyle and all-around blueliner Peter Harrold. The Eagles also named Cory Schneider, the Second-Team All-Star goaltender, and two all-rookie teamers. Boston University is similarly represented, boasting the First-Team goalie in John Curry and three other selections among the All-Stars and rookies. The University of Maine had one player on each squad while UNH has two second teamers, including a repeat selection in senior defenseman Brian Yandle.

The University of Massachusetts was the only non-semifinalist to name an All-Star, as talented two-way defenseman Marvin Degon was selected, while Vermont had two players who received honorable mention status. The All-Rookie Team provided additional diversity as Providence defenseman Cody Wild and Merrimack forward Rob Ricci were among those selected as the best of the first-year crop.
