BOUCHERVILLE, Friday, August 11, 2006 (QMJHL) – Training camps get under way this week-end in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as several teams re-open their doors to get ready for the challenges of the upcoming season. The Chicoutimi Saguenéens are the first to hit the ice as their camp opens today. The Memorial Cup champion Quebec Remparts open their training camp on Sunday, August 13, while the President Cup champion Moncton Wildcats begin their daily workouts on Friday, August 18.

Sunday, August 13: Acadie-Bathurst, Drummondville, Quebec, Shawinigan, Rimouski, Saint John, Val-d’Or
Monday, August 14: Lewiston, Victoriaville
Tuesday, August 15: Baie-Comeau, Gatineau
Wednesday, August 16: Cape Breton, Rouyn-Noranda, St.John’s
Thursday, August 17: PEI
Friday, August 18: Halifax, Moncton
Pre-season action begins on Wednesday, August 16, and comes to a close on Sunday, September 10. A total of 69 games will be played amongst the 18 QMJHL teams.
Moreover, a few exhibition contests will be played in different hockey markets: the Océanic battle the Drakkar on August 17 at the Sept-Ïles Arena; the MAINEiacs and the Sea Dogs meet at the Aitken Center in Fredericton on August 18; the Drakkar and the Remparts travel to Val-Bélair for an August 27 match-up; the Cataractes and the MAINEiacs lock horns at the Léonard-Grondin Center in Granby on August 29; the Titan and the Océanic square-off at Causapscal Arena in Matane on August 30; the Océanic and the Remparts play at the Premier Tech Center in Rivière-du-Loup on September 8; and the Fog Devils battle the Mooseheads at Dartmouth Sportplex on September 9.
Also, Helsinki’s (Finland) junior team is scheduled to travel to the Maritimes to take on the Moncton Wildcats on both August 27 and September 2 at the Tim Horton’s 4-Plex as well as the Saint John Sea Dogs on August 29 at Harbour Station.
The QMJHL regular season finally kicks-off on Thursday, September 14, as the Titan travel to Moncton to face the President Cup champion Wildcats.
