In three games, Messier, a 18 year-old native of Boucherville, scored four goals – including a game-winner as well as a shorthanded marker – and accumulated three assists, while maintaining a +6 (plus/minus) differential. Last Tuesday against Chicoutimi, he netted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to secure a 4-3 win. Then on Friday, he registered a shorthanded goal in a 5-1 victory over the Lewiston MAINEiacs. He concluded his efforts with a four point performance at home versus the Saguenéens on Sunday. Messier has scored five goals so far this season after totalling four last year in his rookie campaign.

Moreover, he went 111 minutes and 55 seconds without allowing a goal over his last three starts. Last Thursday, he blanked the Wildcats 7-0 in Moncton to earn his first shutout of the season as well as earn the game’s first star. He followed that performance with 32 saves in an 8-2 rout of the Sea Dogs on Sunday, earning the game’s third star.
