John Tavares is the CHL Player of the Week

Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that John Tavares of the Oshawa Generals is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday December 3 after scoring six goals and 12 points in three games.

The 16-year-old from Oakville was the first star in all three of the Generals’ wins last week. He started with a goal and two assists in a 6-5 shootout win over the Ottawa 67’s on December 1. Tavares followed up with two goals and three assists in an 8-2 win over the 67’s in the rematch on December 2 and finished the week with a hat trick and an assist, including a helper on the overtime winner in a 7-6 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on December 3.

Tavares leads all OHL goal scorers with 29 and is fourth in the OHL scoring race with 52 points in 27 games.

Aaron Gagnon of the Seattle Thunderbirds was the WHL nominee after scoring five goals and seven points in two games and Paul Alexander McIlveen of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles was the QMJHL nominee after scoring five goals and one assist in two games.
