Hamill Named BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week

Calgary – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Zach Hamill of the Everett Silvertips.

Hamill earned player of the week honours by recording four goals and 13 points in four games during the week of January 22nd to January 28th, helping the Silvertips to four consecutive wins in that span.

On Wednesday, January 24th, Hamill recorded two assists to help the Silvertips to a 5-3 victory over U.S. Division rivals the Portland Winter Hawks.

On Friday, January 26th, Hamill scored three goals and four assists for a career-best seven points, and boasted a +6 rating as the Silvertips skated to a 9-0 road victory in Portland over the Winter Hawks. He was also named the game’s 2nd Star.

On Saturday, January 27th, Hamill recorded one assist as the Silvertips managed a 3-1 road victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds.

On Sunday, January 28th, Hamill recorded his third multi-point game of the week, notching a goal and two assists, including setting up the overtime game-winner, to lead the Silvertips to a 4-3 overtime victory over the visiting Chilliwack Bruins. He was also named the game’s 1st Star.

Hamill, an 18-year-old product of Port Coquitlam, B.C., is eligible for the 2007 NHL draft, and currently leads all WHL players in scoring with 68 points this season.

The WHL has also nominated Carey Price of the Tri-City Americans for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week award.
