Russia made a run to the semi-finals at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, but their bid for gold fell short as they were defeated by Canada, 3-1, in a game played earlier today.
While he hasn't been a scoring star for Russia at this tournament, forward Ivan Nikolishin has previous international experience that included captaining his country's World U17 Hockey Challenge squad last year. At the Ivan Hlinka tournament, Nikolishin has picked up two assists in four games.
The son of former NHL forward Andrei Nikolishin will be heading to North America this fall to play for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. That team selected the Moscow native 70th overall at the 2013 CHL Import Draft, not long after Nikolishin was chosen in the first round of the KHL Draft by CSKA Moskva.
