Boychuk Named BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week

Calgary – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Zach Boychuk of the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Boychuk earned player of the week honours by recording three goals and six assists, and a +8 rating in two games during the week of March 12th to March 18th, as the Hurricanes skated to a 1-1 record in that span.

On Friday, March 16th, Boychuk scored a goal as the Hurricanes dropped a 6-3 decision to the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers.

On Saturday, March 17th, Boychuk scored two goals and added six assists, and was +7 as the Hurricanes skated to an 11-1 triumph over the Rebels in Red Deer. He was named the game’s 1st star.

Boychuk, a 17-year-old from Airdrie, AB, is in his second WHL season with the Hurricanes, and is eligible for the 2008 NHL Draft. He finished the 2006-07 regular season tied for second in League scoring with 31 goals and 60 assists in 69 games.

The WHL has also nominated Jesse Deckert of the Prince Albert Raiders for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week award.
