Jean-Christophe Blanchard named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

By League Press Release

Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jean-Christophe Blanchard of the Victoriaville Tigres is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week after posting a 2-1-0-0 record along with a 2.33 goals against average and a .944 save percentage in three starts last week.

Bouchard started the week with a 27-save 3rd-star effort in a 3-2 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkars on March 14th. He followed up with a first star performance stopping 49 shots in a 4-1 win over the Gatineau Olympiques on March 16th and finished the week with facing 47 shots in a 4-3 loss over the Romouski Oceanic on March 18th, again receiving the games first star honours.

Blanchard was instrumental in helping the Tigres collect five out of a possible six points this week as they finished second in the QMJHL TELUS division team standings. They will meet the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the first round of the playoffs.

Each week the CHL recognizes the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week and will present the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Year Award to the CHL’s top netminder at the conclusion of the 2006-07 season.
