The 2013-14 season saw solid improvement and excellent development across the Montreal Canadiens prospect pool. Michael Bournival made the jump to the NHL level this season while Nathan Beaulieu, Louis Leblanc, and Jarred Tinordi saw more time with the parent club this year.

The Montreal Canadiens have a wide variety of players in their talent pool, many of whom possess a great deal of upside. There are players with offensive skills, speed, size, and physicality, as well as ones known more for their character or leadership.

The Montreal Canadiens have a diverse mix of prospects playing at the junior level. They have a large group of forwards with a good mix of speed, skill, and physicality. Along the blue line, the team has two puck-moving defensive prospects with distinctly different styles of play. The Canadiens have also have a strong goaltending prospect in Zachary Fucale.

Chicoutimi Sagueneens left wing Charles Hudon doesn't have great memories of last year's World Junior Championship. Hudon injured his back in a pre-tournament contest, an injury that kept him out of the entire WJC and was a bother for most of the remainder of his 2012-13 season.

The Montreal Canadiens spent the 2013 off-season addressing various holes in their organizational depth chart and now have good balance throughout their system. Montreal's management philosophy is to give their prospects every opportunity to seize a spot on the NHL roster. The organization is not afraid to put rookies into regular season NHL games for evaluation purposes and the approach has worked very well so far.
