While the Calgary Flames are set to miss the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year, there are positive indications the trend will be changing soon with the growing batch of prospects excelling in the system.

A year can surely make a difference for an NHL organization, and for the Calgary Flames, 2013 could prove to be their lucky year as the team changes directions. Calgary was fortunate enough to acquire eight valuable prospects in the 2013 NHL Draft to build a new foundation.

As the 2013-14 season kicks off, the Calgary Flames find themselves with a restocked arsenal of quality prospects in the system. The Flames have promising talent developing in various leagues which is resulting in players moving up the ranks of the organization.

The Calgary Flames utilized the 2013 NHL Draft to continue building up the new foundation in Calgary by stocking up on talented prospects. General Manager Jay Feaster made eight draft picks and selected a group of four versatile forwards and four solid defensemen.
