The Chicago Blackhawks Top 20 ranking update maintains much of the depth from the fall ranking despite the graduation of Brandon Saad and loss to trade/waivers of prospects like Jimmy Hayes, Dylan Olsen, Ryan Stanton, and Kyle Beach.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ organizational depth has begun to break through to the NHL level in 2013-14. Led by Brandon Pirri, a handful of prospects have seen playing time in Chicago so far this season, while the depth on the wing and the blue line allowed General Manager Stan Bowman to swing a trade for former-Blackhawk Kris Versteeg.

The Chicago Blackhawks have plenty of prospects to watch during the 2013-14 season, particularly at the pro level where a few spots are open in Chicago and a talented class of rookies will be debuting with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.

The Chicago Blackhawks maintain a prospect pool that features both quantity and quality, from potential top-six forwards to versatile blueliners that could contribute down the road. There have not been many changes at the top, but the 2013 draft class increased the competition for lower spots and put three new prospects inside the Top 20.

The Chicago Blackhawks will head into the 2013 NHL Draft with only one pick in the first three rounds after trading their second and third picks to Winnipeg in exchange for Johnny Oduya in 2011-12. The team has five total picks, a change of pace after having made 29 selections at the past three drafts. More than half of Chicago's picks in that time have come in the first three rounds, which has given the team several quality prospects at each position to build around.
